Featured Product: Freya "Electra" Range

In a season saturated with florals, Freya upped the game with their ultra chic “Electra” range, which includes two top options and two matching bottoms in the crazy gorgeous “blue jewel” colorway. Electra.jpg
For each piece, the base fabric is a deep aquamarine, bluer than teal but greener than cerulean. A black mesh overlay tricks the eye so the fabric seems to shimmer—a look evocative of mermaids or underwater beams of light. The color alone is enough to elevate this range into the realm of high-fashion swimwear, and each piece brings its own special something to the table. Let’s start from the bottom, so to speak. The “Electra” range offers two super-stylish bottom options. There’s the Swim Brief #3920, a low-rise, high-cut bottom with sheer side panels. They’re sexy without being skimpy and manage to show a little extra skin without giving too much away. The Swim Short #3919 offers a little extra coverage. It’s a mid-rise style with elastic waist and leg openings for comfort and fit. The short features sheer mesh side panels like the brief, but they’re not as far-reaching for a slightly more modest appearance. electra1 By far the most intriguing piece in the “Electra” range is the fashionable high neck crop top #3918. This top features bandeau-style bra coverage and a sheer high-rise neckline. When fitted correctly, the top edge of the #3918 should sit right below your throat and just above the collarbones. We had one of our fitters try on the #3918 to give you an idea of how it should look. For reference, her correct bra size is a 28H. She donned a 30FF for the purposes of this photoshoot since the manufacturer doesn’t run the cup any higher in this style. (Note that swimwear is somewhat more size-flexible than your everyday bra. It's typically made of stretchier, more accommodating fabrics, and is worn for shorter periods of time.)

“It goes up higher in the neck than you might expect, but the neckline is very soft,” says Arielle, BOB retail store manager and fitting specialist. “It’s kind of sporty, very containing, and very mod.” "It's tied pretty tightly in this picture," says our fit model, "but it's very lightweight and not scratchy, so it's barely noticeable." If you’re worried about feeling constricted in the high-neck look, try the halter style instead—the Banded Underwire Halter Bikini Top #3916. Longtime Freya fans may recognize this build—it’s similar to last season’s “Resort” as well as Freya’s continuous “In the Mix” basic. Like these styles, the #3916 runs up to a GG cup and offers a containing, comfortable fit, but it definitely ups the ante on vogue. The contrast trim gives this plunge top an extra pop, and the upper cup fades into a sexy sheer mesh panel for added flair. Here’s a look at our fitter in the #3916, size 30G. Again, her correct bra size is a 28H.

Though she wore a 30FF in the first style, the 30FF plunge did not work for her. Because the plunge offers less room in the top cup, it dug into her breast and forced her up a cup size. “I tried the 30GG, but the cups were too deep,” she said. “I have really firm, full tissue, and they gave me too much of a conical shape. I went down to the G to get a rounder shape.” Overall, we’re really big fans of the “Electra” range. It fits well, and it looks amazing from the catwalk to the boardwalk to the beach.
